A family photo routine works better when the next step is obvious. Choose one small group, help everyone set it up and start with familiar faces. The goal is to share ordinary life, not to give relatives another stream they feel obliged to keep up with.
Set it up together once
Ask each relative whether they want to take part and which phone they use. Help them join the right group, add its widget if they want one and find the way back into the app. Let them do the last step themselves so you can see whether the instructions make sense. Write down three actions in their language: open, take or choose a photo, send.
Make the photo readable
Use a close, clear subject rather than a distant scene full of tiny details. If you put words on a picture, keep them short and away from the edges. A larger widget can help, but a group with many people still gives each photo less space. In PicPie, try the available slice or square appearance and choose what the family can comfortably see.
Give a small amount of context
“First cake in the new kitchen” is more useful than an unexplained photo of a plate. Names, a familiar place or a one-sentence story can help relatives understand the moment. Avoid posting sensitive documents, addresses or photos of someone who has not agreed to be included. Remember that a Home Screen can be visible to someone standing nearby.
Try a gentle weekly theme
Monday could be a view from the window; midweek, something you made; the weekend, a person or pet you spent time with. Nobody needs to complete all three. Invite family members to send their own perspective rather than only reacting to yours. You might get a garden update, an old recipe or a picture of a familiar street.
Keep important memories elsewhere too
Use a regular photo album or another storage method for pictures you want to keep. PicPie is for current moments: chat content is visible for 24 hours and the latest widget photo can stay until replaced or removed. Before inviting everyone, explain that creating a pizza requires Premium and that one active Premium member is needed for it to remain active. Invited people can join for free.
