Photo widget not updating? Check these things first

Separate a missing photo, an account selection problem and a delayed Home Screen refresh before reinstalling anything.

In this guide
  1. 1. Check the photo inside PicPie
  2. 2. Check the widget’s selected Pizza
  3. 3. Check visibility
  4. 4. Allow the device to refresh

1. Check the photo inside PicPie

Open the intended Pizza in the app. If the photo is missing there too, focus on the upload, internet connection and group selection. If it is present in the app, the widget may simply be displaying an older state. A notification and a refreshed widget do not necessarily arrive together.

2. Check the widget’s selected Pizza

A widget can point to a different group than the one you just opened. After changing accounts, select a Pizza available to the new account. If the Pizza is no longer available, choose another instead of expecting the old selection to keep receiving photos.

3. Check visibility

Not every message is a widget photo. Check whether the photo is included in the widget and whether the sender is hidden in your personal visibility settings. Your own photo also follows your personal preference. Muting a notification and hiding a photo are not the same action.

4. Allow the device to refresh

Open the app once with an internet connection, then return to the Home Screen. Background restrictions and device scheduling can delay updates. Avoid treating the widget as a guaranteed real-time display. If the issue persists, contact PicPie with the phone model, OS version and whether the photo appears in the app. Do not send passwords or private invitation codes.
